Greece awards €8.15 million for 49.3 MWh of storage linked to C&I solar
he Greek government has published a provisional list of 209 businesses selected to receive subsidies for battery storage systems installed alongside existing or new solar PV projects.
The funding is being awarded under Greece’s “Go Beyond Solar Battery” program, which was launched in January 2025.
The provisional list includes 209 companies across Greece. Applicants whose proposals were rejected have until Sept. 25 to lodge an appeal.
The approved applications represent a combined 28.2 MW/49.3 MWh of battery storage capacity. All of the storage systems have durations of up to two hours. The batteries will be paired with a combined 30.8 MW of PV capacity across the 209 projects.
Of the successful applicants, 175 are small businesses, 23 are medium-sized businesses and 11 are large businesses.
Subsidy levels vary according to company size. Small businesses can receive support covering 50% of eligible battery costs, while medium-sized businesses are eligible for 40% and large businesses for 30%.
The 209 projects will receive approximately €8.15 million ($9.31 million) in total funding, according to Greece’s Ministry of Environment and Energy. The funding comes from the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), established as part of the European Union’s post-pandemic recovery package.
Greece launched the Go Beyond Solar Battery program in January 2025 to support businesses installing energy storage alongside operational or planned PV systems. The subsidies apply to storage systems rather than the associated PV installations.
In addition to battery procurement and installation, the program covers energy management systems and costs associated with connecting projects to local electricity networks.
